Working with Black Box Models in Kenexis® SIS (formerly Vertigo™)

Working with Black Box Models in Kenexis® SIS (formerly Vertigo™)

This tutorial covers two related topics in Kenexis® SIS: black box models and fault tree integration.

Black Box Models

Black box models allow you to override Kenexis® SIS’s default PFD (Probability of Failure on Demand) and STR (Safe Failure Fraction) calculations by directly specifying values derived from an external source. This is useful when you have reliability data or calculations from outside the platform that you want to incorporate into your SIL verification workflow.

Fault Tree Integration

This tutorial also walks through how to integrate a Kenexis® Fault Tree (Arbor®) study with Kenexis® SIS, and how those fault tree results can be used directly in SIL verification calculations.

The video below demonstrates both features.
