Your PHA and SIS lifecycle data findings are some of the most valuable risk data you own — yet most of the time they sit in PDFs nobody opens until the next revalidation. The KISS API) is the REST API that changes that. It is a digital bridge that gives your own systems — ERP, CMMS and maintenance management, BI tools, data warehouses, custom applications, and AI/LLM agents — secure, two-way access to the study data inside the Kenexis Integrated Safety Suite, returning structured JSON. It breaks down data silos, eliminates manual re-keying, and turns static study results into a single, live source of truth for faster, more proactive safety decisions.
The API empowers users to automate their process safety workflows by programmatically accessing and manipulating data within our software. This means you can use the API to automatically pull study results into a corporate dashboard, push up-to-date equipment data from an external asset management system into your PHA or SIL verification studies, or generate custom reports outside of the native application.

How APIs Work
The Kenexis Integrated Safety Suite utilizes its open Application Programming Interface (API) to facilitate powerful data integrations, allowing for a truly connected Process Safety Management (PSM) ecosystem. For example, using the Open-PHA Get Study API call as shown below, an external business intelligence (BI) tool or a corporate data warehouse can send a standardized request to KISS to retrieve an entire Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) study. The API securely processes this request and returns the organized data in the structured format of JSON. This automated data retrieval allows management dashboards and company-wide reporting systems to be synchronized with the most current risk analysis information, eliminating manual data transfer and ensuring timely, data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Kenexis APIs unlock powerful business intelligence for your Process Safety Management (PSM) program by creating a direct link between your safety studies and enterprise reporting tools. Users can automatically pull the rich, structured data—including every scenario, consequence, safeguard, and, crucially, all outstanding recommendations—out of the Kenexis Integrated Safety Suite. This data is then loaded directly into any business intelligence tool such as Microsoft Power BI® or Tableau®, instantly transforming static study results into a dynamic, interactive report that can be sorted by priority, filtered by facility or study team, and drilled down to the individual recommendation level. This continuous integration ensures that all stakeholders, from engineers to senior leadership, are always working from a live, accurate view of the organization’s total risk reduction action item status.

Because the API exposes your studies as structured JSON through a documented, open interface, AI and LLM agents can work against your process-safety data directly — reading a full PHA or SIL study, reasoning about its consequences, safeguards, and open recommendations, and writing changes back through the same interface. Because the access is live and two-way, an agent can monitor open recommendations across an entire portfolio or keep study asset data current against your systems of record — not just summarize one file at a time.
Enterprise-grade and IT-ready
Integrations are governed by a dedicated API administrator role that creates, consumes, and deletes API integrations — a managed control surface, not an open back door. The platform is hosted on Microsoft Azure and built to conform with ISO/IEC 27001 (certification in progress), with encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access controls, and comprehensive audit logging of API activity. A private Azure instance is available for accounts with data-residency requirements.

KISS API™ is a cloud-based data integration system that allows communication of KISS data with external systems. It is part of the Kenexis Integrated Safety Suite. Licensing is based on duration with a maximum number of API calls. A single license is $5,000 USD/year* with a maximum of 1,000,000 API calls.
