Last year’s announcement of a new 165,000 bpd refinery near Cartagena, Columbia, ensured that this year’s Oil & Gas Expo, held Nov 2-5th, would be well attended. That expectation held true, but what was pleasantly surprising was the increased attention on safe installation and operation of safety systems. “This trend is the same we’re seeing in other parts of Latin America. As awareness increases there is more focus on application of proper design standards,” notes Kenexis Senior Engineer Jorge Vergara.
