Where the PHA Goes After the Workshop
If you facilitate HAZOPs, own the LOPA register, or carry the revalidation calendar, you know the pattern. The study is finished, issued, and filed. Then the plant starts changing — and the change process runs somewhere else entirely: a spreadsheet, an email chain, a generic workflow tool.
The consequences are familiar:
- The person deciding whether a change needs hazard review is working from memory, because the workflow can’t see the studies.
- “PHA review complete” is a checkbox with a document number typed beside it — a pointer to a file that may since have been revised, moved, or renamed.
- Reviewers evaluating the change can’t open the analysis behind it without a hunt through shared drives.
- At audit or revalidation time, someone reconstructs which changes touched which studies, and hopes the versions line up.

Every change request in Kenexis® MoC carries a dedicated PHA tab. Teams link the actual Open-PHA® studies that support the change — as many as the change needs, drawn from any facility they have access to. The change record shows each study’s live details as work progresses, and one click opens the full study in Kenexis® Open-PHA®. Reviewers move between the change and the analysis behind it without leaving the platform, always looking at the current study rather than a stale copy.

When the change is documented, the linked studies flow automatically into the printable change packet and the study export, so the complete safety story travels with the record — into audits, handovers, and corporate reporting.
Hazard Review as a Rule, Not a Reminder
Most facilities already have a policy that certain changes cannot close without a hazard review. But a policy is only as strong as the busiest person’s memory during the busiest week of the turnaround.
In Kenexis® MoC, the policy enforces itself. Administrators flag any task type as requiring a linked hazard study, and a task of that type cannot be closed until the study is attached to the change request. Task lists show at a glance which tasks carry the requirement and which have met it.

What Integration Buys You
Visibility. The questions that used to require a hunt become glanceable: which studies support this change, which tasks still need a review, and what the auditor will see — which is exactly what the reviewers saw. Multi-site organizations gain a line of sight that folder structures can never offer, with access governed by the same permission model that protects everything else in the suite.
Time. When two systems don’t talk, people become the integration layer — copying study details into forms, digging through folders before review meetings, assembling audit binders by hand. The platform deletes those chores: study details stay current on their own, the review starts one click from the analysis, and the change packet assembles itself.
Outcomes. Hazard reviews get skipped not because anyone decides to skip them, but because connecting the change to the analysis is expensive.
