News - SIS Engineering Training - Edmonton, AB - Spring 2007

Kenexis will present its 4-day SIS Engineering training program in an open enrollment format this spring in Edmonton, AB, Canada.  The dates have not been finalized, and requests for dates and locations are appreciated.  For more information, contact the head of Kenexis Canadian operations, Dr. Scott Meadows

News - Kenexis US Office Expansion

Due to our rapid growth, Kenexis has had to expand its US operations to accommodate our new employees.  Due to our ability to annex the adjoining office space in our existing building, we are able to keep our existing address.  Also, our primary phone numbers and fax will remain the same, but we were required to install a new phone system to increase the amount of available extensions.  As a result, all existing extensions will be changed.  The change will result in 100 being added to the extension.  For instance, Ed Marszal was Extension 1, and now he is extension 101.  E-Mail contact has not changed.  This change applies to all US personnel only, Canadian operations remain unchanged.

News - Kenexis to Present at the 2007 ISA Fall National Meeting

Kenexis Vice-President Kevin Mitchell will be presenting at the Fall National Meeting of the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society (ISA).   The paper and presentation will provide a description of the methods and calculations that are required to perform a risk-based design basis development of fire and gas detection and suppression systems.  This presentation is an extension of the work that is being performed by the ISA 84 standards panel, whose working group 9 is developing technical guidance for applying the ISA 84.00.01 standard to fire and gas systems.  This presentation will include information on how fire and gas detectors can be quantitatively characterized in terms of performance metrics, and then the number of position of detectors can be quantitatively analyzed to determine performance characteristics such as geographic coverage and The conference will be held in October of 2007 in Houston, Texas.  More information can be obtained at the ISA web site.

News - Kenexis Presents at TiPS User Conference

Kenexis President Ed Marszal will present at the TiPS user conference.  The subject of the presentation (and associated paper) will be development of new process safety metrics that will allow managers of chemical process industry plants to more accurately track performance against major loss accidents.  The use of existing IT tools along with new analysis procedures are expected to allow much greater insight into process hazards than existing practices.  These new practices will further leverage the existing investment into IT systems.  More information on the conference is available at the TiPS web site.

News - Kenexis Gives Preview of Risk-Based Fire and Gas Suppression at ISA Safety Division Symposium

Concurrent with the ISA Safety Division Symposium (May 22 and 23, Wyndham Hotel in Mt. Laurel New Jersey - Near Philadelphia), Kenexis will provide a preview of their new risk-based fire and gas detection and suppression services, including a preview of the Effigy™ software toolkit.  The preview will include a discussion of the status of the ISA fire and gas standards committee work, presentation of the fire and gas system safety lifecycle, and an overview of how Kenexis implements risk-based fire and gas suppression design basis development projects - including a detailed preview of Effigy™, which allows risk-based calculations including geographic detector coverage, scenario-based detector coverage, and geographic risk, all in a unique visual format.  The event will be co-sponsored with AE Solutions and is by invitation only.  If you would like to be considered for an invitation to this event contact Ed Marszal of Kenexis or Bud Adler of AE Solutions.

News - SIS Engineering Training - Anchorage, AK - Feb 25 - Mar 03

News - Kenexis Announces SIS Design Basis Revalidation Service and "Upgrade to Kenexis" Promotion

Kenexis has formally announced its SIS design basis revalidation service.  The SIS design basis is a critical set of documents that forms the foundation of an SIS design.  As plants change and more experience is gained in operating the plant, assumptions and specifications that were appropriate during the design phase may become invalid, and should be updated.  The Kenexis SIS Design Basis Revalidation Solution provides an effective way to ensure that your investment in SIS is being used to its full potential while ensuring regulatory compliance.  Kenexis would also like to take the opportunity of revalidation to allow industry users to "Upgrade to Kenexis".  During the initial promotion, Kenexis will take SIS design basis documentation prepared by any other consultant or engineering company and convert it into the Kenexis SIS Design Basis Toolkit format and review/correct the initial work .  Kenexis will do this conversion free of charge as part of an SIS design basis revalidation project.  For more information, contact Ed Marszal at (614) 451-7031 Ext. 1 or edward.marszal@kenexis.com.
